Fatal Hit & Run - Ernest MEYN FSJ07-3217

Two years ago, March 20/2007, at approximately 0725AM, Ernest MEYN was stopped at the South Taylor Hill Brake check to conduct an inspection of his commercial vehicle.  He was at the back of his trailer unit, clearing snow off the brake lights when another commercial vehicle entered the brake check deceleration lane.  Witnesses state the trailer of this commercial vehicle "jack-knifed" striking MEYN, crushing him between the two trailers.  MEYN suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead shortly afterwards in hospital.

The suspect vehicle is described as a white tractor-day cab, possibly a Kenworth 9200 series with Texax rigging, with an orange or red knuckle picker attached to the tractor.  The tractor unit was pulling an empty scissors neck trailer.

It is believed the driver of the truck that struck MEYN would at least have known that he struck MEYN'S vehicle and left the scene to avoid prosecution.

A video clip showing the vehicle or a vehicle similar to the one involved in this incident is attached for your viewing.

The investigation is still on-going with the belief that one day closure wil be found for Ernest MEYN'S family and relatives.
