Assault at the Beatton River
On July 25, 2010 just after 4:00 am Fort St. John RCMP were dispatched to a violent assault that
involved numerous people at a popular party location on the Beatton River, located off of the 103 Rd
outside of Fort St. John.
The initial investigation has revealed that a large group of teens and young adults had gathered at this
area the previous evening to camp, consume alcohol and socialize. At some point during the night's
festivities several incidents occurred involving different people fighting. It is believed that as a result of
these fights, one the parties involved gathered several friends, who were armed with baseball bats, two by fours, batons and other blunt objects, and confronted the entire group of people who had gathered at the location.
Police officers immediately attended to the disturbance and requested the assistance of BC Ambulance
 Numerous people suffered serious injuries as a result of being struck with these weapons. These persons have been treated at the Fort St. John Hospital. Several witnesses reported that one of the suspects was armed with a handgun.

All available resources are currently investigating this incident and will not be available for media interviews today.
Fort St. John RCMP are requesting that anyone who may have been at the party last night, or have any
information about this assault, to contact the Serious Crime Unit with their information at 250-787-8140.
